Claude Brousseau, PGA MASTER

A PGA Master Professional and member of both the PGA of America and PGA of France, Claude was recently named the 2016 Aloha Section PGA Horton Smith Award recipient. This award provides special recognition to an individual PGA Professional for outstanding and continuing contributions to professional education.

Brousseau was twice voted the Aloha Section PGA Teacher of the Year (2008, 2015) and, in 2014, was awarded the Aloha Section PGA Bill Strausbaugh Award for his significant contributions in mentoring fellow PGA professionals and furthering career opportunities for them. He is also rated among the “Best Teachers” in the state of Hawaii (2015-’16) by his peers in Golf Digest.

Originally from Montreal, Quebec, Canada, Claude has conducted schools in the United States, Canada and Europe, and given more than 20,000 lessons over his near 20-year coaching career. He founded the first and only short-game academy in France, and has taught players on the European Tour, Ladies European Tour, European Challenge Tour and Senior European Tour. Claude has had more than 60 instruction articles published around the world in such notable publications as Golf MagazineGolf Magazine France, and Golf Digest Canada and Inside Golf Canada.

Claude’s areas of expertise include the short game, putting and on-course performance. An AimPoint Level III Certified Instructor and VISION54 Certified Coach, Claude was a highly competitive player for some time, playing on the mini-tours in South Florida and competing in several Monday qualifiers on the PGA Tour.

David Gerken, PGA


As a freshman in high school, David began playing golf and quickly fell in love with the game.  He played four years on the high school golf team and played in the State Championship in his last three seasons.  After high school, David enrolled in the PGA/PGM Program at New Mexico State University.  During the summers, he worked at prestigious golf clubs in Hawaii, California, and Colorado.  Upon graduation, David worked as a Golf Professional at The King Kamehameha Golf Club for 4 years.  He also coached the St. Anthony High School golf team for 3 years.
 
After a short stint of playing professionally in Australia and Asia, David returned to life as a golf professional at Northmoor Country Club in Chicago, IL and worked there for 4 years.  David is excited to return Maui and reunite with
friends and family.  David’s mother was born and raised in Honokaa on the Big Island, and his parents live on Maui.  With these roots, David understands the “aloha spirit” and exemplifies all the things that it entails.  David is determined to maintain the quality standards of the Kahili Golf Course, and is motivated to bring new and innovative ideas to increase the entire Kahili Experience.
